For the seventh generation of KONTAKT, we're bringing its 20-year legacy into the future. I had a focusrite 8i6 (1st gen - discontinued), so I'll be so surprised if the ID4 performs worse.KONTAKT 7 is everything from instant inspiration for music makers to the industry's leading instrument-building tool. It could be a latency issue, I've just bought a an Audient Id4 so I'll look into it & might actually have to return it. For example, if I were to draw a 4-bar box on the timeline which starts from bar 8 and ends at bar 12, any note played around bar 8 won't be recorded. The only gripe I have with C10 is that when recording midi, for some reason Cubase won't capture the first inputted note if it's at the beginning of a midi section, because it some how recognises it as being pressed before recording starts. ![]() I can't wait to get some vocals down and do a bit of mixing as I've only made beats with Cubase 10 at the moment - something I religiously stayed away from and used Reason 5.0 and sadily FL12 when I got bored of the lack on VST support on reason. Maybe blue screen some times (didn't haven't a legit copy though & my focusrite usb interface didn't do well with windows 10). I actually Never had any severe issues with Cubase 5, I think. Haha yeah, Cubase will always have a place in my heart. I've never really struggled moving between them. I totally agree with the personal choices statement though, if a DAW can perform basic tasks well it's never really an issue for advanced users, and the layout of daws are almost identical. I've been questioning myself about my choice not to buy hardware all of these years. Nice, similar to you, but I also produce (make beats), so I heavily rely on midi input. Kinda like a great car or old girlfriend or something. How are you finding cubase 10? I love cubase and I do miss it. Cubase 5 was solid, 8 used to die frequently and seemingly for no good reason! Nothing you can’t do in any other DAW but I find everything just so user friendly and intuitive.Īnother thing which is probably my fault, again,īut my studio one has never, not once, crashed or failed. I do a bit of my own mastering for things like jingles, some of my own music and some other stuff and their project page for mastering is awesome. I find managing multiple busses and big mixes generally is a lot easier in SO. I never really used my outboard stuff in cubase (which is my fault not theirs) but it’s so damn easy now I do it on just about everything. Routing to outboard with their pipeline plugin is a beautiful thing. I always used to get sidetracked by plugins but studio one has somehow made my workflow drastically more efficient. I really don’t think in 2019 one DAW is “better” than the next but that’s just me. I think these things are personal depending on what you do, how you work etc. ![]() Yeah so I also used cubase 5 for years, used 8 for a maybe 3 years and fully moved to studio one 3 about 18 months ago. I’m a musician, singer and artist first, engineer next but I’ve been mixing and recording others locally for a few years. ![]()
